Cyclone Michaung Relief Efforts

Over the years, we have been actively involved in providing assistance to those affected by various calamities, and our team is dedicated to making a positive impact in times of need. Recently, our attention has been drawn to the devastating effects of Cyclone Michaung in Chennai during Dec 2023. Witnessing the challenges faced by the affected communities, Voice Trust extended a donation of vessels valued at Rs.10,000 to support those adversely affected by Cyclone Michaung through the esteemed office of Madurai District Collector. These vessels are intended to assist the affected families in restoring some semblance of normalcy to their lives, particularly in the aftermath of the cyclone.

Covid-19 Vaccination Awareness & Vaccination Camp

Voice Trust with appropriate awareness and education methodology depicted the benefits of Covid-19 Vaccine that inspired and encouraged the citizens of Madurai to get vaccinated as they get their turns. The campaign roll out of Covid-19 vaccine was executed by disseminating the information among all public for ensuring maximum outreach.

Free Distribution of Rice, Provisions & Sanitation Kits During 2nd Phase of Covid-19

COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown has brought about a sense of fear and anxiety. This phenomenon has led to short term as well as long term psychosocial and mental health implications.

Basic Life Support Training (BLS)

Voice Trust imparts training programs on basic trauma life support skills to youth, to ensure that they are able to act accurately during a situation of duress. This is to spread awareness about the essential steps that need to be taken to support victims of road accidents or other medical emergencies on the road.

Mega Covid-19 vaccination campaign

Under our Chief Minister’ s Covid-19 Vaccination drive across Tamil Nadu from the 12th of September to 10th October 2021, Voice Trust in association with the District administration and Deputy Director of Health Services, successfully conducted the Mega Covid-19 vaccination campaign in various Vaccination booths of Madurai East Block.

Covid-19 Vaccination Camp for Children Below 18yrs

On the 10th of Jan 2022, Covid-19 Vaccination drive for children below 18yrs was carried out at Nagasiva Polytechnic College in association with Primary Health Center Viradhanoor. This program was carried out under the leadership of Voice Trust Trustees Mr Nagalingam, T Murugesan and Nagasiva Polytechnic College Director Mr Palaniselvam. A total of around 350 people benefitted from this drive.

Free Medical Camp

Voice Trust has been organizing Medical camps to provide primary health care services in unreached and under-reached villages. As part of this intervention Voice Trust has organized around 5000 health camps in the southern districts with an outreach of one lakh population. The objective of the health camps is to provide primary health care services including both curative and preventive components through provision of timely screening, diagnosis and treatment on the one hand and awareness generation and counseling on the other to ensure holistic health and well-being. Through these camps referral services are provided to those in need of specialized medicalfacilities.

Free Medical Camp for Senior Citizens at Veerapandian Nagar

For the benefit of Senior Citizens and as a preventive measure of Corona in the Lock down period, Free Medical Camp was organized by Voice Trust in association with Suji Health Care Clinic and Lions Club at Veerapandian Nagar, Madurai on the 26th of June 2021. Lions Governor Mr Radhakrishnan LGF inaugurated the camp and Mr Arumugam, Regional Chairman, Lions Club felicitated the function.

Free Medical Camp at Seeman Nagar

Under the guidelines issued by our honorable Chief Minister Thiru MK Stalin Sir, For the benefit of Senior Citizens, of their inability in reaching hospitals amid the covid situation, and as a preventive measure of Corona in the Lock down period, Free Medical Camps are organized by Voice Trust right at the comfort of their own places.

Free Medical Camp at Chinna Pandikovil Street Karupayyurani

Free Medical Camp was organized by Voice Trust in association with Suji Health Care Clinic at Chinna Pandikovil Street Karupayyurani on the 4th of July 2021. A total of 35 people from in and around Karuppayurani benefitted from this Medical camp. Free sugar test, BP, Temperature, Pulse rate and Eye examinations were conducted at the camp. Dr Kabir Das examined all the people who attended the camp and free medicines were provided to those in need. This camp was very beneficial for the people during this lock down period.

Covid-19 Relief Assistance to Folk Artists

In line with our Covid-19 relief initiatives to support the Rural Folk Artists of Madurai District who have lost their livelihoods due the second wave of Covid-19, on the 10th of July 2021, Voice Trust in association with Suji Health Care Madurai organized “Free Distribution of Rice, Vegetables & Provision Kits” with the sponsorship from Ms Srividhya Suran at the premises of Collector Office Madurai.

Dr S Aneesh Sekhar, I.A.S., District Collector and Smt Senthilkumari, District Revenue Officer presided over the function and distributed the relief assistance packages to 100 Rural Folk Artists. The program was efficiently organized by Voice Trust Managing Director Mr T Murugesan and their Team.

Voice Trust Relief Services during Gaja Cyclone

Severe Cyclonic Storm Gaja originated as a low-pressure system over the Gulf of Thailand. The weak system intensified into a depression over the Bay of Bengal on November 10, 2018 and further intensified to a cyclonic storm on November 11, being classified ‘Gaja’. Cyclone Gaja made landfall in South India, at Vedaranyam, Tamil Nadu.

Dengue Health Education

Health education is essential for the control of diseases such as dengue, ensuring that community members understand the mechanisms of infection and the key behaviours or activities that need to be addressed to prevent transmission, reduce severe disease and avoid fatalities.

Kumbakonam Fire Accident

The incident took place on 16 July, 2004 at Sri Krishna Middle School around 10 am when the noon meal was being prepared in the school kitchen that had a thatched roof. The roof caught fire when a spark from the burning firewood fell on it and spread to the thatched roof of the classroom where several children were studying, Sri Krishna Aided Private School, Saraswathi Nursery and Primary School and the Sri Krishna Girls High School, all functioned in the same building where close to 700 students were studying.

Sabrimala Medical Camp

Voice Trust in association with Meenakshi Mission Hospital organized and co-ordinated all the activities of the well equipped cardiology dispensary and First Aid Center which was opened at Appachimedu in the year 1994. From 1998 to 2015, our Trust along with Apollo Hospitals Madurai, catered to the medical needs of the devotees round the clock, we initiated and have been rendering our service continuously working with the medical team through the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangham to open up an Intensive.

Mobile Medical Services During Chithirai Festival

The Chithirai festival in Madurai takes place every year in the month of April. The celestial wedding of Goddess Meesnakshi with Lord Sundareswarar takes place on April 25th when Lord Kallazhagar enter the Vaigai and on April 26th when he begins the journey back to his abode. It’s that time of the year when the temple town comes alive with myriad hues and moods.A sea of people from all over the world throng to witness Madurai’s magnum opus, the Chithirai Thiruvizha, a carnival that’s unique in many ways.

Tsunami Relief Initiatives

In 2004, giant waves swallowed thousands of people in Tamil Nadu’s coastal areas like Nagapattinam, Chennai, Cuddalore, Velankanni and Poompuhar. Over 8,000 people lost their lives in Tamil Nadu to these giant waves. In these crucial hours, fishermen out on their boats, fishingcommunities in their villages, morning walkers on Chennai’s Marina beach, tourists and pilgrims, all go under as wave after giant wave hits them and flings them into the sea.

Medical Treatment at Peoples Doorstep

Voice Trust Medical camps with support from Government DD Health Services held in different panchayats of Madurai is an initiative to take the Medical facilities to the People’s Doorsteps during this unprecedented time of Covid-19. These Medical camps are organized in accordance to our Government, advising Senior citizens and Children to stay indoors and to discourage unnecessary travel for Health ailments amid the lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19. The Free Medical Camps (Medical Treatment at People’s Doorsteps) were conducted at 10 different places in Madurai East Block from 27th June 2021 to 28th July 2021. A total of 397 people benefitted through these camps.

These Medical camps provide the poor population overall physical examinations which include eyes and health check-ups, assessment of the functioning of vital organs like the heart, lungs, digestive system, liver, kidneys, and immune system. These Medical camps provide diagnosis, treatment and medication at the patients’ door steps.

Through these camps referral services are provided to those in need of specialized medical facilities.
