Dengue Awareness Program at Govt Middle School Sakkimangalam

On August 8, 2024, Voice Trust NGO organized a dengue awareness program for middleschool students at Lakshmi Kanthan Bharathi Nagar, Sakkimangalam Panchayat, Madurai East District. A total of 110 students and seven teachers participated under the leadership of Head Master Mr. Thennavan. The program, directed by Mr. T. Murugesan of Voice Trust, was conducted in accordance with the directives of the District Chief Educational Officer and the District Collector. The event was further honored by the presence of Lion’s Club Zonal President Dr. Moorthy, Anna Nagar. The program was highly successful, featuring significant student interaction and engagement.

Dengue Awareness Campaign at Government Boys Hr. Sec. School, Elumalai

On August 6, 2024, Voice Trust NGO conducted a successful dengue awareness campaign at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Elumalai, Madurai District. The program saw active participation from 630 students across classes 6 to 12, along with a dozen teachers. Organized with the approval of the Chief Educational Officer and the District Collector, the event was coordinated by the Head Master, other faculty members, Mr. T. Murugesan, Director of Voice Trust, Mr. Vivek Raj of Voice Trust, Suji Health Care, and the Lion’s Club of Madurai Friends. The program featured engaging discussions led by Dr. T. Mariappan, Sr. Scientist at ICMR-VCRC, Madurai, and was marked by substantial student interaction and participation.

Dengue Awareness Programme

On 19th July 2024, Voice Trust organized a Dengue awareness program for the students of Sholavandhan Government Girls Higher Secondary School and Sholavandhan Government Boys Higher Secondary School. The event took place at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sholavandan, featuring two informative sessions: one in the morning for the boys’ school and another in the evening for the girls’ school.

We were honoured to have Dr. T. Mariappan, a retired Scientist-F (Former Deputy Director Senior Grade), ICMR-VCRC, Ex-Director-in-Charge of CRME, and Ex-Officer-in-Charge of ICMR-VCRC Field Station, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, as our keynote speaker. Dr. Mariappan, a WHO Fellow with certifications from CDC-Atlanta (USA) and Tulane University, New Orleans, USA, shared his extensive expertise on vector-borne diseases, providing invaluable insights on Dengue crisis management and mosquito control.

Additionally, Mr. T. Murugesan, Director of Voice Trust, delivered an engaging speech on healthy lifestyle practices to prevent Dengue. The program also featured a quiz competition, with prizes awarded to the winners, and an oath-taking ceremony where students pledged to eradicate Dengue and maintain a clean environment. The event was a great success, raising awareness and educating students on the importance of Dengue prevention and control.

Eye camp and Dengue Awareness

On the 22nd Oct 2023 Voice Trust in association with NSS unit of M.A.V.M.M Hr Sec School and Suji Healthcare Madurai organized Dengue Awareness session for the welfare of the general public at Uranganpatti near Karupayurrani, Madurai. This awareness was to highlight prevention of dengue, Aedes Aegypti day biting mosquitoes and cleanliness measures was held for the benefit of the people. The awareness programme educated the general public about dengue-causing mosquitoes, fever prevention etc through interactive sessions.

Dengue Awareness and Lifestyle with Stress Management

The “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Dengue Awareness and Lifestyle with Stress Management Programs held at the 4 Toll Plazas (Kappalur Toll Plaza, Sattur Toll Plaza, Salaipudur Toll Plaza, Nanguneri Toll Plaza) on the 8th and 9th Sep 2023 served as an essential platform to educate both toll staff and road users about the dangers of dengue and the importance of stress management. The core of the event was an interactive awareness session by Dr. T. Mariappan, Senior Scientist, ICMR (Retd.), where staff members and road users had the opportunity to learn about dengue disease and ask questions related to it. The session aimed to dispel myths, provide accurate information, and promote preventive measures against dengue. By providing a space for questions and doubts, the event empowered attendees with knowledge and tools to protect themselves and their communities from the disease. Voice Trust’s initiative to organize this event demonstrates a commitment to improving public health and promoting overall well-being. Such endeavours are integral to creating a healthier and more informed society.

Voice Trust conducted a series of successful Dengue Awareness Programs at 24 Government Schools of Madurai in the month of July and Aug 2023

The aim of the program was to educate and raise awareness among the students about Dengue fever, its prevention, and the importance of early detection. The Highlights of the program included Interactive Sessions, and education on Prevention Measures, Identifying Breeding Sites and Early Detection. The students were educated about various preventive measures, including maintaining a clean and mosquito-free environment, using mosquito nets, and wearing protective clothing. The education also imparted about the dentification of Breeding Sites and early detection. The students actively participated in a Q&A session, clarifying their doubts and misconceptions related to Dengue fever.

Dengue Awareness Program at Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Girls Higher Secondary School, Madurai

Voice Trust Madurai, Suji Health Care and Apollo Hospitals, Madurai organised an interactive Awareness Programme on Dengue for the students of Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Girls Higher Secondary School, Theppakulam, Madurai The main purpose was to spread Dengue awareness, promote and provide a safer and healthier learning environment. A special assembly of the school children was organized to spread awareness about the importance of proper environment sanitation in the fight against dengue, which will give raise to a healthier generation. Dengue is transmitted by bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito infected with any one of the four dengue viruses. This mosquito bites only during daylight hours. Dr Mariappan highlighted on the breeding sites and prevention methods. Specimens of the Dengue mosquito were shown to the students. The programme was concluded with an Oath to eradicate Dengue. A total of 750 students benefitted from this programme.

Awareness Program at Appar Higher Secondary School, Karuppayurani, Madurai

On World Environment Day, Voice Trust in association with Suji Health Care and Lions Club of Cosmos, Madurai hosted the Dengue Awareness Program at Appar Higher Secondary School, Karuppayurani, Madurai.
A platform for action World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries On this occasion Dr. Mariappan, Ex Scientist at Indian Institute of Science-(ICMR) explained about the environmental awareness and the dangers of dengue and how we can protect ourselves. The event was attended and benefited by approximately 450 school students.

Dengue Awareness At Arulmigu Lord Subramania Swamy Girs Higher Secondary School, Tiruparankundram, Madurai

“Good health and good sense are two of life’s greatest blessings” but now a day some dangerous diseases effects on health very much like one of its example is Dengue Fever. Voice Trust in association with Anandam Lions Club and Suji HealthCare organization held an “Environment and Dengue Awareness Programe” at Arulmigu Lord Subramania Swamy Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Tiruparankundaram.

Dengue Prevention Program For Police Personnels & Their Family At Theni

Voice Trust Madurai, Suji Health Care and Madurai Apollo Hospital conducted a Dengue Prevention & Awareness programme for the Theni District Police Family in Coordination with Police Department of Theni District. The event was inaugurated by Sri.V.Baskaran, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Theni District. Dr. Mariappan, Ex.Scientist., – ICMR, in his speech said that dengue is a widespread disease in the rainy season. The disease is spread by stangnant water in plastics, tires and aquatic waste in our surroundings. So we need to keep our surroundings clean. He said the disease could be avoided by preventing mosquito bites in areas with clean air. Dr.G.Venugopalan, MD., (Geriatric Medicine)., Apollo Specialty Hospitals, Madurai said, Dengue fever is a curable disease. A person suffering from dengue fever may be deficient in water. To control this we have to drink a solution made up of salt and sugar in drinking water. People suffering from the disease should consult the doctor and take medication. SRI.ELAMARAN, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Armed Reserve, Theni District finally ended the programme with vote of thanks. About 200 people benefited from the programme.
